This year’s winner was chosen for his leading philanthropic work that has contributed to the long-term development of Afghanistan and a strengthening of its communities. Under the leadership of Mr Mawji, the Aga Khan Development Network has been responsible for a highly effective and courageous programme providing assistance for the reconstruction of Afghanistan and their work has become a source of stability and progress in all regions of the country.

    The Prize Award Ceremony took place at the 16th Annual General Assembly and Conference of the the European Foundation Centre held from June 4th - 6th 2005 in Budapest.
